Dirtbag Runners encompass a wide variety of people from all over the country–heck, even all over the world. Some like to call themselves vegetarians or vegans, while others go by the paleo or caveman diet. Others prefer carbs above all else, specifically of the pastry variety. Despite our varied diets, we still share one thing in common: we’re Dirtbags and we love it.

What do you emphasize in your personal diet? I was a vegetarian for a long time, but I don’t like restrictions anymore. I eat anything.
Breakfast: Oatmeal with peanut butter, maple syrup and salt.
Lunch: Tortilla chips with hummus and salsa; I’m more of a snacker.
Dinner: Pancakes and eggs or a sandwich with extra bread.

What do you eat or drink during training runs? Depends on how long I’m running. I don’t bring anything if it’s under two hours or less, other than a 20 oz. handheld water bottle. For longer runs I’ll do gels.
What do you eat during a race? Mostly gels. I prefer honey stingers and V-fuels, totaling 300 calories per hour.

Favorite drink: Water…and beer! Everyone loves beer.
Favorite food: Sushi and cinnamon rolls.
Favorite post-race meal: Pizza! I’m lactose intolerant so I only have pizza after a race.
LOL Glad I’m not the only one that eats like that… I tell so many people what I typically eat and most people start off with “What else? I mean, where is the filling stuff?”
Count me in on that diet.
