A couple great stories out of the Arkansas DBR’s as several members had a memorable race weekend at the Full Moon 50k. This unique event started at 7:00pm on Saturday evening meaning most runners were still out on the course into Sunday morning.
This out-and-back course is run on rolling forest service roads in the Ouachita National Forest in Central Arkansas (sharing trails with the Arkansas Traveller 100m) and our DBR’s encountered copperheads, tarantulas, scorpions and millipedes. Yowzers!
Lisa Mobley had a strong race and a new 50k PR with her time of 5:53 and 6th woman overall. Nice work Lisa! The entire crew hung around cheering finishers on while enjoying some post-race food including pancakes, eggs and bacon. Seriously, this should be the finish line food of all ultras!
Taking her endurance to a new level, Diane Diebold finished the Full Moon 50k as well…it’s just that she first competed in the 340 mile Missouri River Boat Race with two other teammates that took 49+ hours! Badass.
Boise DBR team member Garrick Arends has been exploring the Sawtooth Mountains throughout the summer and his recent adventure took him off trail and up ridges above the Trail Creek drainage on the western side of the wilderness area. Garrick is also a pretty decent photographer, especially while running!
Check back next week for more Dirtbag adventures & stories!
